HB #88 will make comprehensive sex education the default sex ed curriculum in North Carolina public schools

A bill that would make comprehensive sex education the default sex ed curriculum in North Carolina public schools has been scheduled for a hearing in the House Education Committee next Tuesday, March 10.

Since the North Carolina General Assembly enacted abstinence until marriage education as the standard in 1995, the teen pregnancy rate has dropped by a third, the teen abortion rate has been cut in half, and the rate of teen infection for sexually transmitted diseases like syphilis and gonorrhea has plummeted.
